Getting Started with DMARC Nerd

Welcome to DMARC Nerd! This guide will help you get up and running in just 5 minutes.

Prerequisites

Before you start, you’ll need:

  • A domain name that you control
  • Email address for account creation
  • Access to your domain’s DNS settings (from your DNS provider)

Step 1: Create Your Account

  1. Go to DMARC Nerd
  2. Click “Sign Up” in the top right
  3. Enter your email address and create a password
  4. Check your email for verification link
  5. Click the verification link to activate your account

Step 2: Add Your Domain

  1. Log in to your DMARC Nerd account
  2. Click “Add Domain”
  3. Enter your domain name (e.g., example.com)
  4. Click “Generate DNS Records”
  5. You’ll see the DMARC record you need to add

Step 3: Configure Your DNS Records

Copy the DMARC record from DMARC Nerd and add it to your DNS provider. We have guides for:

Step 4: Wait for DNS Propagation

DNS changes typically propagate within 24 hours, though sometimes it’s much faster. You can check your DMARC record status in your account dashboard.

Step 5: Receive Your First Report

Once your DNS records are propagated, you’ll receive your first DMARC report the following Monday morning. Reports include:

  • Authentication results (DMARC, SPF, DKIM)
  • Sending sources
  • Failure rates
  • Policy recommendations

Q: How long does DNS propagation take? A: Usually 24 hours, but can be faster. We’ll notify you when we detect your DMARC record.
